ABOUT BASECAMP FOUNDATION KENYA

Building Stronger Communities in the Maasai Mara

Basecamp Foundation Kenya is a nonprofit organisation working with communities in the Maasai Mara to create sustainable opportunities in education, livelihoods, environmental stewardship and community development.

Our work responds to the priorities of communities that have historically experienced limited access to quality education, reliable livelihoods, safe water and opportunities to participate fully in decisions affecting their future.

We develop and support practical models that bring communities, partners and local institutions together. These initiatives combine local knowledge with appropriate resources, skills and partnerships to create solutions that can continue delivering value over time.

Basecamp Foundation Kenya has worked in the Maasai Mara for more than fifteen years. During this period, the Foundation has supported community initiatives in education, girls’ and women’s empowerment, livelihoods, water, environmental conservation and institutional development.

OUR PURPOSE

Creating Opportunity Through Sustainable Development

We believe that sustainable development begins when communities are able to identify their priorities, participate in designing solutions and build the skills and institutions required to sustain progress.

Our role is to help create the conditions in which children can learn, young people can pursue meaningful opportunities, women can participate more fully in economic and community life, and families can strengthen their resilience.

We work through long-term community relationships and partnerships with organisations that share our commitment to inclusive, responsible and locally grounded development.
